    Thank you

    Hi David

I did look at that death but i have the marriage cert for his son George H, in 1886 and john is down as the father but not as deceased, could it be possible that deceased was not put on the certificate?

    Hi Diane

That is no guarantee that John was still alive. I have relative who I cannot find on the 1861 or 1871 census (there is a possible death cert for 1855) but is not recorded as deceased on his sons marriage certificate of 1875.

Unless of course he was a witness!!!

    Thanks David,

I shall get the certificate for the 1885, better find out now, rather than kick myself later searching for ages and finding out it was there all along.

    again thanks

    Diane
