Thread: help finding maiden name of thomas meridew wife mary

i have been trying to find the maiden name of thomas meridews wife mary

thomas was born in wiltshire on 22/02/1633,he married mary born in abt 1632,she died in 1697

children

thomas1637

joan 1670-1671

elizabeth 1668

ann 1671



thomas also married alice?i cant seem to find anything about her either

alice 1664-1664

thomas 1664-16664

thomas 1637 etc.



Could Alice of been the first wife and died in child birth (1664)...if not, these dates dont add up either.



Would like to try and help you, but cant promise you I'll find anything.

I've taken a look around the marriages for Wiltshire from 1645 to 1680, using only the name Thomas.



At worse hoping the surname was mis-transcribed and a similar one would jump out of the page for me.



All I got was:



Thomas Wileden Married Mary Clark 3 June 1669 Salisbury

Thomas Drewatt Married Alice Ashman 6 Nov 1664 Trowbridge

Thomas Meadum Married Mary Carlick 9 Jan 1685 Cliffe Pypard.



As you can see they don't look very likely candidates.



Do you know the Parish or Town in Wiltshire Thomas Meridew lived in.

son thomas 1673 not 1637!

i didnt explain it very well,alice was thomas first wife,i think she did die in childbirth of the twins.

surname is definatly meridew,has also been spelt,merridew,merrydew.

If you can't find the marriages, perhaps you could find the burials for Alice and Mary. That might give their ages, which might help you to fix on likely dates for the marriages. That is if they were both married to the same Thomas and not two different Thomases!



Have you got any idea which parish(es) these people lived in? How do you know that there were twins and not two children who were baptised at the same time?

Type in Surname and location, Wiltshire.



Could any of these be your ancestors. One looks quite interesting.



Elizabeth Meridew married Thomas Wiltshire in Everleigh 1662.



You could also google for The Parish in Everleigh and see what they could come up with.
