I am trying to locate a copy of a birth certificate for Arthur Riley, Born in County Bridgford, Notts in 1882, his parents are William and Susan. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks for you quick response, I have just recieved that birth certificate, but the parents are John and Mary Ann. I can see arthur on the census lists, but not on birth registers, I have been searching this one for quite a while and dont seem to be getting anywhere.

There's both East and West Bridgford, do you know which Arthur was from?



If East, then the reg district would have been Bingham.

One of these may be him. I've looked up Basford registration district and West Bridgford is included. I had a situation like this and I rang the appropriate registry office. I gave them both 'options' and told them what the parents names should be. That way, I would only pay the £7 if one of them was correct! Had to give them my card details and if they found the one I was looking for, they debited my account.

No I dont know which one he is from, only know it as County Brigdeford. Ill have a try with that one.

Sue, I've just taken a look at the census returns and in 1901 the transcriber has written C Bridgford - I dont think there's such a place and looking at the original sheet I'd say it's E Bridgford

Hi again Sue, it won't be County Bridgford, the county is Nottinghamshire. It has to be either East or West Bridgford.

Thank you both so much for your help. I now have 3 births to try fingers x'd one of them will be the correct one.
