Thread: Looking for a divorce!!!!

Does anyone know how I can get divorce records. It took place between 1974-1977. I think the couple involved divorced in Northumberland. I wont give names incase they use this forum. Any help would be gratefully received. squeeze13

I have found details of divorces around late 1960's in the local papers. (Presuming you know where they lived!!)

I would be surprised if you could access them seeing it was only in 1970s . But maybe someone knows diffrent .

A divorce, like a marriage, is a public fact. So I don't think there is any difficulty in finding out someone is divorced. But I don't think you can see the ins and outs of who said who did what. Perhaps when Sneeze has investigated she can let us know!

My friend managed to find out a divorce for a relative of hers from 1935 and when the paper's arrived it showed all the nitty gritty and she found out that her mum has a sister that she knew nothing about. As this divorce that I'm looking for was in the 70's I might not be able to get the full transcript.
