Default Hart Family in Londonderry, circa 1807

Until recently, the oldest records we'd found were the passenger lists from my family's arrival in New York from Ireland, first in 1834 on board the Ontario, with another son arriving in 1842 on the RMS Britannia. However, I was able to find a marriage record from St. Columb's parish in Londonderry, dated 1807, for Samuel Hart and Charlotte Marrow (spelled Harrow on the record), both born around 1791 and dying sometime between the 1855 and 1860 censuses in New York. Another odd bit we've had is an old newspaper clipping from a family reunion in the 1920s or so, mentioning that the Harts had emigrated from Scotland in 1785 to Northern Ireland, before moving the New York in 1834, and then to Michigan in 1856.

Where can I search with the info from the marriage record to find Samuel's parents and beyond?

    Hi,

Have you been able to look at the New York censuses? Does it give place of births on there?

It does, but it just says "Ireland" - and the earlier censuses just use tally marks to note how many people within a certain age range live in that household. James Hart and Jane Kirk would've been married in Ireland, most likely in 1842, but I've found no record.
