Default FOUNTAINs of Bethnal Green BDM look ups

I am trying to find relatives of my Grandmother Amy Fountain, whom I never met, nor anyone in my family, so in order to do that I need to trace where her parents and siblings ended up, they all originated in Bethnal Green and all were alive in 1923 at her wedding (mother was witness), the easiest way I think is via death and marriage certificate addresses.

    The family is as follows:

FREDERICK FOUNTAIN born 15 AUG 1876 (Gt Grandfather)

SARAH FOUNTAIN born 9 MAY 1878 (Gt Grandmother)

AMY FOUNTAIN my grandmother (I have all records)

    FREDERICK FOUNTAIN born 1901

    WALTER FOUNTAIN born 1903

    VIOLET FOUNTAIN born 1906

    CHARLES FOUNTAIN born 1908

FRANCES FOUNTAIN born 1910 (married George J Lucioni 1932)

JOHN FOUNTAIN born 6 DEC 1911 (married Agnes F MANN 1938)

    DORA FOUNTAIN born 1913

    EDWARD FOUNTAIN born 1915

    EDITH FOUNTAIN born 1917

    ARTHUR FOUNTAIN born 1920

SARAH FOUNTAIN born 24 NOV 1921

I have 1C1Rs born in Bethnal Green also:

    John Fountain 1939

    IVY D Fountain 1940

    FRANCES D LUCIONI 1932

    BARRY GEORGE LUCIONI 1933

I know that one of the sisters married a MR LEWIS as it is mentioned on some legal papers when they were trying to find my grandmother.

i.e. either VIOLET, DORA, EDITH or SARAH FOUNTAIN.

Death references for my Gt grandparents might give me a witness address.

Likewise any one elses death reference.

Marriage references for her siblings or my cousins might be useful.

All photos of my grandmother were destroyed by my grandfathers second wife. If I can trace a live relative maybe I can find her in their grandparents wedding photos (after all I know what my grand father looks likes so if he is there she will be!).

Obviously I may need to be PM'd if you find a live relative.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I have gone as far as I can with FreeBDM. All probables have been used.

Some of the names are familial going back generations so I get a few options with same names and ages!

Not many have middle names so buying gro certificates would be very expensive.

I may try to Skype a few I have found in the phone book over the weekend (5) should have thought of that ages ago!

I only need to get lucky once!

I was hoping some of the less common names might get less possibilities.

Frederick and Sarahs ages might be the best chance for death records.

Unfortunately with WW2 I can't exclude that they like my fathers paternal relatives did not just scatter during the blitz as the East End was bombed out, so my relatives could be anywhere.

I have just found my old records which luckily I emailed to myself ages ago.

I have found one probable marriage which is:

WALTER FOUNTAIN / Ruby AVEN Dec 1936 Bethnal Green 1c 281

As there are no Fountain births with a mother AVEN on FreeBDM, could someone try searching for that combination from 1935 to 1950 so I can see whether it is worth buying the certificate to see whether he is a grand uncle or cousin?

    Hi

Do you have Frederick's (Grt Grandfather) WWI service records? As they contain full birth dates for Amy's siblings.

    Dear Geniegenie,

I had never looked up WW1 records for Frederick (my Gt Grandfather) or his son Frederick as I thought the former might be getting too old to join (38) and the son at 13-17 on the too young edge.

If you have access and can prove they served I would happily stand corrected and add another family to my Military history.

I heard one Fountain was a professional soldier but I assumed it was one of my GG Uncles (I thought Boar War) but I guess one of the Fredericks is possible.

For anyone else wishing to help:

I have been PM'd with good leads on probable information on most of the boys possible marriages etc, plus their parents deaths so the only people I need information on now are Edward, Arthur and the girls Violet, Dora, Edith and Sarah, the later still trying to work out who married Mr Lewis, as I know my grandmother used to live with them.

    Cheers PhotonPhil

    Hi Phil

I think that you may have to add your Great Grandfather to your military history

The service record includes the following:-

Frederick Fountain signed up with 10 London Regiment on 30th January 1917

Address: 30 Type St. Bethnal Green

Declared age is 40 – Birth Certificate submitted gives DOB 15 Aug 1876

It states that he married Sarah Williams on 3rd Dec 1899

    Children

    Frederick 20.10.01

    Walter 12.07.03

    Violet 28.07.06

    Frances 28.03.10

    John 06.12.11

    Dora 22.10.13

    Edward 15.07.15

    Dear Geniegenie,

That information truely suprised me, and saves me a fortune in GRO certificates as now I have most of their dobs and the two that I don't have I know were born at 18 Type St, as was my father.

How is it possible to get copies of those documents?

Don't suppose you have a service number?

I'll go and check the MICs then retire for the night.

To Emeltee, thanks I have the marriage certificate 3rd Dec 1899.

Although I have always assumed my mother was talking rubbish that my Grand Aunt married Ted 'kid' Lewis the multi weight divison boxing world champion but, as his real name was Gershon Mendeloff, it is possible that I should be looking for a Fountain/Mendeloff marriage?

His brother also a professional boxer used the name Lou 'kid' Lewis but I cannot find his first name, I have seen the name misspelt as Mendelov.
