Thread: War time marriages, where to start

Hello,



How would I start to research a marriage that occured in Austria in the 1940's, between a british soldier and local austrian women, they may also have had there first child in Austria. They then moved to Wales, UK.



Any pointers in the right direction would be appeciated.

Thanks for the message - he "was" in the Army and their marriage is recorded in the Army Returns Marriages 1946-1950 index - these records do not give the exact date or place of marriage, but do tell you where he was stationed at the time and the year in which they married.



Will send you the full entry information which you can use to order the marriage certificate from the GRO. This will fill in the missing info for you.
