i assume you have looked at the 1911 census to get the parents info.annie maud born 1876 and charles william born 1873 it is the only one i can see so prob right but to be certain you would need certificate

these are the carnes births in sculcoates between 1899 and 1912 when the mothers maiden name is given and i can see they are not your family

and only charles hector appears in 1911 i assume most of them are probable not yours but may be cousins etc. ther only other one that might be is evelyn that died before the 1911 census

i think you can safely say that all the info i provided relates to the charles carnes , son of ann gasson and charles william carnes of sculcoates. as to whether it is who you are after i cant be certain. however what i would say is that it is the only charles i can see registered in sculcoates for that quarter and year and with the middle name hector given as well makes it very unlikely it isnt him. i do believe it is him



if it was me i would send for the birth certificate of 1903. if it comes back with a birth date of 31 march then i think you can be absoulely certain. i do not think you would find another charles hector carnes born on exactly same day in sculcoates. it is not the most common combination of names.



the 1911 census gave the info of charles and anne with son charles living in sculcoates.

If you have acces to Ancestry world wide, look under Immigration & Travel it lists all the ships he worked on, his occupation and include the ship wreck. Sometimes the next of kin are listed on the crew/passenger lists. Look especally before he married in 1933.
