Thread: Sarah Carr - Oxford/Middlesex/Norfolk

Trying to find info on Sarah Carr - father listed as George Carr when married in St. Dunstans, London in june 1865. Census has her born in Oxford and London and Unknown. Sarah married George Wright from Norfolk and lived most of her life in Norwich, dying there in 1911.

Her funeral card said "Sarah Taytor Wright" - a daughter's b.c. has her as Sarah Louise and a census as Sarah Ann. Would love to be able to straighten this record out. "George Carr" was said to be a Sergeant of Police -

A Ferris Carr born in Oxford had a daughter Sarah - which seem to fit - other than father's name George.

Have you thought about contacting the historical section/ Police museum relating to the relavent Police Constabulary that George Carr served in?



Most Counties in England had their own Police Constabulary and most have a museum remembering famous cases etc.



Police service records once they go beyond a certain date are generally passed on to the museums for archiving.



Not all information is researchable but the museums generally do it for free and release the information they are able, since however these are usually small departments you will need to wait a few weeks for the results.



If George was a Sergeant then it is very likely he has a record, it may give his wife's name and their address (possibly at the police station).
