    Default need some advice please

    Hi i am trying to trace my family in Australia (whom are still alive) so will not post any names, but do not know where to start or if i am able to get any information, the last time i spoke to one of the relatives was nearly 20yrs ago then lost address finally found it but they have now moved please could anyone tell me what steps to take to find them, would greatly appreciate any information

    Thank you Chris much appreciated just do not know where to start, hopefully if able to find them get to know them and also their ancestors which are mine too.

    Although you can't access census information or even some bdm information for 70-100 years (NSW is the worse), the electoral rolls are searchable at all the state libraries, but you can elect not to be on the public roll (but luckily few people realise this).

    It is compulsory to vote in Australia at elections if you register to vote (again compulsory for Australian but optional for permanent residents). So there is a better than 50% chance that you can find them there.



    Each state has it's own roll but, if you start at the state they were last in you might find them.

    Just a quick update, i finally spoke to my long lost relative in Australia (who is now 80yrs old) i also received an email from her daughter thanking me for the letter i wrote, she is going to write back to me and this time will not lose any letters or addressess a lot more new family to add to my tree. Thank you so much for all the help and advice you gave me in finding them.

    That is great news. I usually manage to find mine a year or so after they have died. Keep us in touch with any news.



    P.S don't lose the address.
