thankyou welshlady his the 2nd gillas birth i can not find ?
john c Gillas was my father in law who you found iwas trying to find out if Ernest was his brother our his uncle our some family
If John D Gillas is your father in law, then I assume that Harold J Gillas and Ada Edwards married 1930 Kensington, are your Grand parents in Law.
However I cannot find a Harold J Gillas birth.
The only Harold Gillas on the 1911 census was born 1906, and living in an institution in Dover (also there John Gillas 1904)
There are a John Alfred Gillis born in dover in 1904
And a Harold Ernest Gillis born in Dover in 1906 so while these are the two on the census it may just be a coincedence about the Ernest name popping up and these have nothing to do with you.
Assuming these brothers were yours I have searched Kent, Surrey and Middlesex for a Ernest D Gil* birth without success.
that all i get it seam's funnie that grandfather in law no birth and no birth for Ernest only when they got married sue
It is annoying but not funny
The surname Gillas, could be mispelt Giles, Gilles, Gillies, Gillis and that is without Gillet etc.
My worse mispelt relative is Hilliard spelled E.L.L.I.O.T.T
Frequently people write what they thought someone said rather than ask them to spell it. Some people are illiterate. Somethings get transcribed wrong.
AND some people change their name, first or last because they either don't like it or some other reason. I have lots of these too.
It does not answer the question whether Ernest is a relative however.
But at the present state of freebdm we cannot say that he is. Worth checking back every few months as it is updated but use a wildcard search on the surname as it is unusual (to me)
Rarer surnames are great to look up as long as they get spelled the same each time (I have 5 variations of my own surname in about 10 years)
But do you think the Harold in Dover is yours or just a coincedence?
when hes in the workhouse they spell it Gillas but when look other place for him they spell it Gillis and hes 2nd name is Ernest my Harold is a J so i dont think he is mine wish he was
