    Default Child Payments Early 1900s

I am currently researching my mothers biological father - she told me he used to pay money to her mother which they had to collect from a building in the town. My mother was born in 1920.

I remember seeing something on 'Who Do You Think You Are' about some kind of payment order for situations like this - a bit like the CSA only probably more efficient

Does anyone know where I could begin to look for this information.

    Thank you in advance.

Of course it could be a purely voluntary arrangement, between the father and mother, might not have involved any official records.

I thought that but it was with them going to this building in town - my Mum even went once but she can't remember what the building was - maybe have to do a search of the town buildings - find out what was there in that period.

If they were collecting money it could have been from a bank, post office, or maybe the man's place of work.

Just found that the Borough Courts were in the street my mother mentioned and it is there that the Petty Sessions were heard so I think I may be on the right track here (finally)
