Hi , When a person looks up a marriage date sometimes it shows a small list , as you named the two no problem as you can see who wed that day. and they match .

where do you want to go - backwards, forwards or both? I would say its worth investing in £7 to get the marriage cert. This would enable you to be sure you are following the right people.

I would definatatley agree with getting the marriage cert. Especially if you wish to go backwards. You need some concrete evidence to know you are looking at teh right family. You could just relay on guess work ( which can turn out right ) but much better to know you are not wasting your time.

Had a quick look at 1881 for Margaret as it is a slightley unusual name and there are 4 possibles ( Not accounting for any Mis-transcriptions ) in the Lancashire area .........

    1. Margaret TRIPPIER - COULD BE A FIRST MARRIAGE

Wife Gender: Female Birth: <1844> L'pool, Lancashire, England

    2. Margaret TRIPPIER - POSSIBLEY TOO YOUNG

Daur Gender: Female Birth: <1881> Accrington, Lancashire, England

    3. Margaret Ann TRIPPIER -

Dau Gender: Female Birth: <1859> Rishton, Lancashire, England

    4. Margret TRIPPIER -

Gr Daur Gender: Female Birth: <1874> Freckleton, Lancashire, England

All of which could be your Maragret as you don't know how old she is.

The marriage cert would give you and idea of age but most inportantley would give you her fathers name .......

The last 2 Margarets are interesting as they are will other family members - which is always a bonus.

No3 : Although it looks like This Margaret is possible married so therefore her maiden names isn't Trippier

Ann ASHWORTH Head W Female 47 Rishton, Lancashire, England Farmer Of 90 Acres

John ASHWORTH Son Male 15 Pleasington, Lancashire, England Farmers Son

David ASHWORTH Son Male 12 Pleasington, Lancashire, England Scholar

Elizabeth ASHWORTH Dau Female 7 Pleasington, Lancashire, England Scholar

Joseph TRIPPIER Son In Law M Male 25 Newchurch, Lancashire, England Farm Serv (Indoor)

****Margaret Ann TRIPPIER Dau M Female 22 Rishton, Lancashire, England Dairymaid (Ag Lab)

Joseph Edwd. TRIPPIER G Son Male 2 Haslingden, Lancashire, England

Elizabeth Ann TRIPPIER G Dau Female 1 Livesey, Lancashire, England

No4 - This is the strongest possiblity for your Margaret ( but that is only my opinion )

John WHITESIDE Head M Male 60 Marton, Lancashire, England Farming 142 Acres

Mary WHITESIDE Wife M Female 61 Greenhalgh, Lancashire, England

John WHITESIDE Son U Male 29 Warton, Lancashire, England Farmers Son

Jane WHITESIDE Daur U Female 26 Warton, Lancashire, England Farmers Daur

Mary WHITESIDE Daur U Female 19 Warton, Lancashire, England Farmers Daur

Ellen TRIPPIER Daur W Female 31 Warton, Lancashire, England Farmers Daur

Elizebeth TRIPPIER Gr Daur Female 11 Freckleton, Lancashire, England Scholar

Mary TRIPPIER Gr Daur Female 9 Freckleton, Lancashire, England Scholar

***Margret TRIPPIER Gr Daur Female 7 Freckleton, Lancashire, England Scholar

John TRIPPIER Gr Son Male 3 Kirkham, Lancashire, England

As you can see there is no Father mentioned on the above for Margaret. So I've had a look for a Whiteside / Trippier Marriage and found this one.

    Marriages Jun 1868

    Trippier William Fylde 8e 849

    Whiteside Ellen Fylde 8e 849

So there is the possibility these are margarets parents.

But as previously suggested it would be a good idea to invest in a few certs to back up the findings and prove you have the right family.

As any of the 4 Margarets from the 1881 census could be yours.

    Good Luck x
