    Default ROBERTSON'S TRAVELS SCOTLAND/NZ 1917? ONWARD

Again it is me ! Got to keep you people on your metal !

I have a problem, and yes another one !

This one is....MY Parents travel between Scotland/Glasgow and NZ.

If anyone could help me with a list of passengers from Scotland to NZ about 1918 - 1921, .Please.... where to look.

I am not a member of 'Find My Past' which I gather has possible info, plus I find that on looking, that most of the sites are TO USA and PREE 1900. which is no help. I am a member of 'Genes', but cannot sus out anything there, or maybe it is the way I am searching ???

    SO....

My parents..... Alfred (Tailor) and Martha Mary Watson Robertson plus my elder sister Mary Louise Elizabeth, came to New Zealand possibly about late 1817. As my elder sister was born June 1917 in Glasgow and she was with them ?

Would anyone travel that distance with a new born baby ??. UMM !

I don't know if they immigrated, or were in any way assisted passengers.

so as I said...BUT.. I am sure that the FIRST time to NZ, they came after my elder sister was born, in 1917.

They returned to Scotland shortly after, (Long story there...then....It is possible that only my Mother and elder sister went, as I see to remember hearing that later on my Father went over to bring them back to NZ. (VERY Homesick wife!)..

All three came back to NZ (about 1919) I DO KNOW.. They were back in NZ by the January of 1920, as my other sister Beatrice Margaret was born in Christchurch NZ. in January 1920

They then went back to Scotland again -

The girls and my Mother.????.. this time I am not sure if my father was with them,... returning to NZ ????? I think about 2 yrs later.

So I wanted to see if I could trace their coming and going to and from Glasgow..Scotland/NZ.

The only possible clue I have is an old ashtray with SS RUAPEHU engraved in it... This I gather is an OLD NZ Shipping Co. Ship. Any significance with their travels..I would not hazard a guess...a possible maybe ?

Alternatively... do you know of any shipping/passenger lists I could look up.

I had a look at Ellis Is and a few others. but they seem to me to be mainly to USA and to be honest... I GOT CONFUSED !!.

While I know they called/visited ? at Boston on one trip, as Dad's brother. George Robertson was living there... .

    Any help available ?

Wonderful... Geniegenie,,, I have posted my email address on I think! your private box..

IS it possible for you to highlight/copy/paste the relevant details of my Family travels from wherever it was you found them and send to me, or else as a private message here.. ?? (Maid Marion has ( I think) my mail address if this does not work)...

I would like to insert them into my Family History book...

Now there is more to their travels. ...

    We have....

Mother, Father and baby Mary came to NZ...

Then Mother and two daughters went back to Scotland.

    OK ....

NOW.. Father went over and got them Can you find that ?..

THEN..back to NZ they came, Father Mother and two girls, ..Can you find that ?

All this would be between the years of 1929 and Sept 1933 (when I was born here in Christchurch.

Honestly you people are wonderful... How and where you get all this amazes me ! I looked and trolled through thousands in NZ pastpapers and could find zilch...

Poor Mother never really settled in NZ. She was always sooo homesick for Scotland.. I think had not my Father died in 1940 she would have returned yet again !

    THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH.
