    Default Looking for my Father

I have been searching for my father for a couple of years. I have lost hope and believe maybe he doesn't want to be 'found'.

However i cannot find closure in that statement and believe maybe its the searching that is wrong and that's why i cannot find him.Which is very haphazard due to the very little info i have to go on.This includes a couple of newspaper reports which gives me his full name and his age in 1966. I cannot find a birth record for him. I did 'find' a possible marriage cert for him but this has lead to nothing meaning i couldn't confirm if its him or not.

So if anyone thinks they might be able to help i can email them the details. Its in 1947 and posting the details here are maybe against the boards rules.Thank you Starlight for letting me know.

    The only details i have are;

Michael Barry Hudson, he was 19 in September 1966 so born approx. 1947

He was last heard of in Maidstone, Kent. Last known address was in Strood, Kent. He knew of my mums 'condition' as he mentioned me in the court room and it was also in the newspaper report. However they had only known each other for a matter of months, April - September. In September they went their different ways due to mum being sent to an approve school and dad being sent for Borstal training. Due to mum being sent there, their relationship was not in couraged. Her relationship with my nan broke down and when my dad went to ask about me he was told by my nan that she didn't know Elizabeth was having a baby. Since however it was reported in the paper i find this hard to believe but nan had her ways, lol.

As you can see there is hardly anything to go on. I found a marriage in 1970 for a Hudson and Davis, but it seems that Michael Barry Hudson is a year older than i expected.

    Thank you xx

    Hi Stilllooking,

You can post his name and year of birth. You can also add the area where you last heard of him being in. You cannot add his full date of birth though. You can add his parents names but not his mother's maiden name. If he doesn't see his name, if he is also looking for you, how will he know. All further information must be sent using the PM system. I hope this helps and good luck.

    Dear Stilllooking,

If your Dad was attended Borstal then there may have been a court hearing so there will be records perhaps you could find out how to obtain them and then you will know for definite his date of birth.

Apparently court transcripts are expensive but might be worth considering.

    Best of luck

Hi supersleuth, tried that avenue as well i am afraid it came to nothing due to the papers being held for 70 years before opening. They had an expenses book which was logged in a an old folder and that revealed nothing either. I don't think it was what i thought it was.

I went to Medway Archives to search for a record is there another place that might have similar but not closed for so long?

I have also tried the social services due to mum being in the approved she got a slip of paper back from them that really contained her mums address and that's it really so that was no help.

I tried the ER as well for 5 years after but that came to nothing ethier.

Thanks for the reply i am going to search google again as i am sure there is another record place.

    Hi Stilllooking

I am sorry if I gave you false hope; I thought he was 19 at the time of trial and therefore subject to the normal 30 year closure rule for court hearings. But I suppose Borstal would be considered a juvenile hearing.

Only thing I can suggest is if his birthday was in Oct to Dec he would be born in 1946. I expect you have done all the other avenues I can think of.

I reunited with my Dad after 20 odd years it wasn't like the tv but worth doing. Will you let me know how you get on?

Supersleuth, don't worry about giving me false hope. Any answers as far as i am concerned are either a double check of what i have tried or a new line that i haven't tried, you was answering my question and it was a blooming good idea at at. It took me nearly a year and half to think of that lol.

Your are right he was 19 at the time, so wonder if i am searching the wrong things? It said they were seeing about his suitability of being returned to borstal training, so is there a clue in there? The final newspaper report say he was returned, could it mean he was just 19?

I am grateful for any help even if its a death as i am trying to sort this out for my own peace of mind. And i am grateful for everyone who has tried and i still hoping that something, even if its tiny will come to light soon.

    Thank you xx
