Thread: William Rodger - When Did He Emigrate ?

Hi,



I'm trying to find out when an ancestor of my hubby's emigrated to Canada. His name was William Rodger, and he was an engineer's draftsman. He was born in 1875 in Pollokshaws, Glasgow to James & Janet Inglis Mason. I know he sailed to New York from Canada in 1911, but don't know whereabouts he lived. According to the ships manifest he was married and was already a canadian.



How do I look for him in Canada ? I don't know where to look next .

Researching in Canada can be a nightmare! Some records are held at the national archives and some like births, marriages and deaths are under provincial jurisdiction. So it's difficult unless you know what province someone lives in. (Plus our privacy laws are pretty strict) Good hunting!

There are several border crossings for him. I don't know if you want those. This is the first one I can find where he actually went from Scotland to Canada.
