Thread: Disaster at Hauxley – Steamship Alice

Does anyone know anything about this shipping disaster? I believe George & Thomas Danskin were involved but have no other information. I have been told there is an article in the Newcastle Courant but have no idea when – possibly late 1800’s? Were there any fatalities – who were the owners of the vessel? 1881 census shows George working on a steamboat – could it have been the SS Alice?
