Can anyone perhaps tell me if there are records available relating

to "Remittance Men" and if so where would I look?

Family wills might be a source of information. The parents of a remittance man sometimes set up a trust fund or some kind of arrangement whereby

the financial support would continue after their deaths. In the case of one remittance man in Canada who I have been researching, income from invested money was left to his wife.

Thanks so much for your reply Carmela.

I have a copy of his father's Will , everything was left in trust to his wife and then to all his children. As I am having difficulty finding out when my ggrandfather came to South Africa I thought he might have been a Remittance Man and I could find out that way, just clutching at straws I am.
