Thread: HARRIET E ROBERTSON & EDWARD ROBERTSON

Now i know you good people are just waiting for a riddle to solve - so here I go !!!

My Granfather Edward Robertson b/1851 on South Leith Scotland UK was married three times. The last to a Harriet E Henn of Essex, New Jersey.

They were married on the 27th October 1916 in Bloomfield NJ, and I gather lived there the rest of their lives.

Edward on the marriage Cert has put his age forward by 8 yrs !! to 1859... to match hers. He was Naturalised on the 15th Aug 1924.

According to a gentleman on Ancestry (of which I am noit a member ) who has been researching the 'Page Family' - of which Harriet was a member,(...PAGE..comes in the 2nd Marriage of her three I gather) she died in 1933 in Bloomfield, Essex, New Jersey, and was burried at the Bloomfield Cemetery.

She left Edward her house, and an annuity for his lifetime.

I am trying to locate...

A) Bloomfield Cemetery in New Jersey USA. to find the deaths..

I did find one such Cemetery, but it had nothing on her at all... Can anyone help please ?

B) Edward.... How can I find out when he died and is buried ??



I cannot find a Social Security Death Index for either, yet I suspect there would be one... Where do I get such ?

Have you tried Bloomfield Cemetery, 383 Belleville Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ ?

Thanks for that. I had a look but could not 'get through' to find if there was a listing for either Harriet or Edward, which there should be.

However I have found that they died..Harriet on Nov 11th 1944 and Edward Dec 22nd 1938.

There are wills too, which I am able to get provided I send a postal note/order. which I am willing to do as they stated the price. BUT they will not acccept that or credit card payment for Death certs.

I was put onto the Archives at the State of NJ, by a freind whom I happend to mention it to.... who gave me the details of NJ State Archives., but on enquiring, they say that I have to get someone (a Professional Researcher)... to go in and search for them as they are on Microfilm. (Yet they gave me the details !!)

I am not that happy about this ! as I have heard they sometimes cost an 'arm and a leg' and can be a rip off....

Has anyone any suggestions..???.

Apart from me flying from NZ!......... IF ONLY !

I don't suppose there is anyone there who would get them for me and I could pay them ???

Other than that .... ???? any suggestions would be welcome.

Don't book your flight!! I found Harriet's dc is displayed on Ancestry under her maiden name Henn. If you don't have access, pm me and I'll forward it

The NJ State Archives said ...

Age abt 80 yrs (He actually was 8 yrs older !)

Date of death was December 22nd 1938.

Place of death was the same as Harriet's... South Amboy Hospital, South Amboy, Middlesex County.

Residence. Union Beach NJ.

Burial. Rosemount Cemetery, Keyport. NJ (USA)

Harriet E Henn b/1859 ENGLAND. It says on her death Cert.

Can anyone give me any informtation as to where I can get a Birth certificate for her.

She was I believe married twice or three times, prior to marrying Edward Robertson..

I am at a loss as to where to look for a Birth Certificate for Harriet.

Can anyone help with this please?

Am I reading her dc correctly? I think it says she was born 19 Sept 1859 in Newark NJ. Her parents were b England.
