Thread: Burns/Dodson family - Yorkshire

I am trying to trace any living descendants of my great grandmother May Bradley.



She remarried in around 1901/2 and had two daughters. Gwendoline May Burns and Olive May Burns. I know Olive married a John Dodson in 1930.



It is likely that there may be living grandchildren of May who remember her and could fill in some of the missing gaps. May had two children before the Burns children, one of them being my late grandmother.



Any help would be appriciated. thank you.

I think the chances of any descendants being on this website and seeing your post are remote.



You would be better off writing to local newspapers to ask them, and going through the birth indexes (transcribed on Ancestry) to trace people.

Thanks for your reply, I'm hoping to come across a living relative who is perhaps linked with my ancestry. Do you have any suggestions as to an alternative way I could appeal for information other than ordering the birth certificates/marriage certs of May's other siblings?

You could try posting on other genealogy sites or in magazines - but of course the descendants may not be in the least bit interested in genealogy. So I guess you could try writing to local newspapers - but Burns and Dodson are quite popular names.

Do you have info on who Gwendoline married?



I have found no likely marriage records for her in East Riding, where Olive married, but the following took place in West Riding around a similiar time.

this is going to sound really strange, stumbled across this post, im actually named after my great grandmother, Olive May Burns who married John Dodson....
