Thread: Trying to find Herbert Hillier(Grandad)

Hi all,



Can anyone help please-I have been trying to find my grandad for over a year now with no luck-just keep coming up against bricks walls. He was born in 1897 in Manchester as Herbert Hillier( surname is his mothers as there was no father on the birth cert)-Eleanor Hillier was (his mother).

He was then found on the 1901 census living with a Boardman family William(head) & Sarah plus their children etc at 94 Osborne street M/c. He was on the census as adopted son but still had his own name. He died in 1924 aged 27yrs by accidental poisoning still living at this address. I cannot find where he is buried at all. I did wonder if he may be buried with William Boardman his adopted father but I don't no where he is either.

I would be grateful for any advice or help.

Do you know when William Boardman died?



Have not found Herbert but there are lots of William Boardman’s in the Manchester Burial Records which are free to search on the following link

Thankyou for your help. I've been on M/c burials and found william boardman he died in 1919 and there with him his his eldest son his wife sarah ann and my grandad-although his name is spelt wrong it's definately him, I can't believe it I'm thrilled to bits.
