Thread: How do I find out if someone is still alive?

I am trying to find out whether my great grandfather is still alive, which is highly unlikely!

But I don't know when he died or if so where, I have done lots of records searches but have come up with nothing.

My Grandfather stopped talking to his dad when he was about ten, so I literally have no clue where he might of ended up. The only thing I know was that he was visiting a family member in Northern Ireland in the 1970's, and he wasn't very well apparently!

His name was Edward Francis Ferrie born in Dundee on 28 March 1906.

If anyone could help me I would be grateful.

Do you know where he was living prior to 1970 ? Had he intended to return from Ireland .

He was a travelling musician, so he could of been anywhere. That is why I am so stuck!

All I can tell you is that he didn't die in Scotland where he was born.

Thanks Starlight! I think he must of died in Northern Ireland, as I have check all other records, and he doesn't appear on any of them. And someone in our family did see him there in the 1970s.



Is there anyway of searching Northern Irish records, before ordering a certificate, so I give as much information as possible?

You could try this site they may be able to tell you if he died there.
