Thread: Re-Charles Pitman

Hello again

Sorry I'm stuck again can't find the marriage of Charles and Maria, a while ago some kind person found a Maria Fuller in 41 living in Guernsey later she is listed as the mother of the Pitman children. I have searched freebmd so I assume they married in Guernsey or Jersey which is where they lived.

I have a branch of my ancestors who hail from Guernsey, and I ended up employing a researcher who lives on the island. She was very reasonable around £25per hour. (She has just started and has advertised in FT Mag, in the past year.) I can only say I wish I could find as much about my local family as she did in the five hour that she spent she tracing my Guernsey ancestors.



Before giving a quote she does a quick search of the local records, including parish and library, tells you what she thinks she can find and then gives a price. I have used her twice. On both occasions we agreed 3 hours, but I was so happy with her work, I extended the first to 5 hours. The second time she directed me to a Family tree on A****y that had all the info I was seeking. The three hours was spent confirming and getting certificates.



One off searches are much cheaper.
