Thread: Looking at Church Records

Hi All

I will be going to records office in Middlesborough towards end of July, I am checking out my ancestors from the Stainton, and Guisborough areas. Does anyone know how easy it is to have a look at actual church records, I am keen to have a look at my grandfathers baptism record at the Parish church in Stainton.

Some are on fich some on film , the libary ones you can get a machine that give copys well do at ours they are 10p each , havnt seen them at records office though. Youll find staff realy helpful .Have a great time hope you have some great results

Very easy. The records as stated above, are available on microfilm or fiche and I would recommend you go through them noting every surname of relevnce. You can often tie them in later on, even if you don't recognise the first names to start with.



Early registers tended to have the baptisms, marriages, banns and deaths all in one register, later ones are separated.
