    Hi There Frederick,

I dont know just how much help I can be to you with this one but I have found some information that might help with your search...

The City of London Police Records Office, 26 Old Jewry, London EC2R 8OJ possesses registers listing every member of the force since warrant numbers were introduced on 9 April 1832 together with personal files on 95% of officers who have served since that date.

You could also contact the National Archives and direct your questions to them.. A free search

    This link might also help..

City of London police are totally separate from the Met.

Metropolitan police officers information is at Kew and you can use the warrant number to find them.

If you can't get to Kew - and its a fab experience - you can ask that they photocopy the records, again the warrant number will help.

The records will give physuical description, date and place of birth, previous employer and service record including any promotions.
