Thread: Looking for a marriage - not on Freebmd.

Looking for the marriage of Ruth A Horwood to Herbert H Gilkes. On the 1911 census it says they have been married 12 years and there first child was born 1900 in Buckingham.



So I'm looking for a possible marriage from 1899 ( +/- a year ).



I would expect the marriage to be in Buckingham although there are London connections so this is a possible as well.



Ruth was born @1876.



I have looked on Freebmd but it doesn't seem to be there. so would appreciate any help.

How do you know Ruth's maiden name, is it from her child's birth cert? Have you found Ruth and Herbert together on the 1901 census?

Not yet found her on the 1901 - I know her surname as I have traced her family in the other census records



in 1901 I believe her to be with her husband and first daughter Dorothy Miranda born @1900 in Buckingham

You say 'you know her surname' but I don't understand how you know she married Herbert Gilkes as you haven't found a marriage between the couple. Have you found a birth record for a Dorothy Gilkes?

I have researched my HORWOOD family and know that Ruth was the sister of my GG Grandmother Martha



I have recently had contact from a lady who is related through her G Grandmother Ruth.



Ruth and MArtha being sisters.



The information I have about Ruth and her husband is from this lady.



We have both been unable to trace a marriage so I was just having another try as it's been a year or so since I last looked
