Default Help with 1861 Census or marriage STAPLES

    Hello

New to all this and plodding along slowly. Can anybody help with a look up pre 1901 for a John Edwin Staples birth circa 1859 (House painter) and a Jane (or Mary) Staples of similar birth year.

Would be great if I can find where they were living when they were married (possibly married Lambeth 1d 655 1880 Mar - awaiting certificate) and also whether the female was in fact Jane or Mary, and her maiden name.

Any info. will help me along.

    Many thanks.

In 1881 they were living in Sreatham, and John was a gardener.

1871, still living in Norwood. It would appear Ann had died and George was remarried to Caroline. Caroline born Wombridge, Wilts.

Wow, thanks to you all for such quick and concise answers. My only problem with this John and Mary are the two children. The 1911 census states that John and Mary (or Jane as she was given on the 1901 census) lost 2 or their four children. The two children given on the 1901 census were William and Mabel. William could well be the John W Staples age 5 in 1891 (and the age would fit with the 1901 census where he is shown as William age 16). So I need to look into Louisa and then I will know if this is the family.

    Thanks again!

Well poor Louisa Alice Staples died in Camberwell age 10 in latter half of 1891 so that explains the 2 surviving children.
