Thread: Help with William Brain b1863.

I would like some help please with William George Henry Brain. He was born 18 Sep 1863 in Hadyn Street, Kings Norton, Worcestershire, which is now a suburb of Birmingham.



His mothers name was Hannah Brain, and there is no fathers name on his birth cert. We have found him on the 1871 census living with his mother and his step-father Thomas Rodgers in Rushall in Staffs, Hannah is now married. William is shown as being born in Birmingham, Warwickshire.



I have the marriage details for Thomas Rodgers and Hannah Brain, and as William is shown as the step-son of Thomas Rodgers, I do not believe that Thomas was the father of William.



Some help towards finding William on census after 1871 would be much appreciated. Thank you.

This one is doubtful, but appears as the only Birmingham born William 1863 +- 5 years.

I have a William Brain born in 1863 in Warwickshire married to Amelia Slater. They had 4 children, Alfred, Ernest, Gladys, and William.

Mine emigrated to Chicago, Illinois in 1907. Could this possibly be who you are looking for?

Thank you for replying. If your William is the one registered in Solihull in 1863, I'm afraid its not the one I'm looking for info on. The William Brain I am interested in was registered in Kings Norton in 1863, he was illegitimate.
