Genseeke you dont say where William was born or give any indication as to his birth year... I did find these births but you would need to confirm.. Maybe its the older of the two..That would make him around 14 years of age.. Hmmmm These are the only two on freebmd from 1870 to 1901

you really do need to add more info. this is the closest match i could find - do you know of any links with sheffield? found these in census:
