Thread: Sowters, Robert Page Sowter

My Grandfather Robert Page Sowter b 1870-72 doesn't seem to have a birth cert.. After many years of searching we have come to the conclusion that he could have been illegitimate & think that he could have been born to a Sarah Marie Sowter aged 20 (no fathers name b/cert) as a Robert George Sowter.(b1870 supposedly).Only a scenario. Sarah Marie Sowter was living next to a William Page aged 22 at the time. On Robert Page Sowters marriage Cert to Amy Bugler, his father is listed as a William.

Sarah Marie Sowters parents were a George & Sarah Sowter (nee Lee) and also had a son James William Page Sowter b 1844.(I have that b/cert) plus a son George Sowter b 1846...

As James Wm Page Sowter b Essex in 1844, looked for Robert on 1881 census and to my surprise couldn't find him. Did your grandfather have any siblings that you know of including half-brothers or sisters?

However, I then tried William Page in 1881 and found this: (could his wife Sarah be Sarah Marie Sowter?)
