hello, im wondering if you can help me find any info on ronald kenneth sleigh he was born c1907 bradford and died 4th december 1974 middlesbrough. ive been told that hes on the 1911 census living with alfred edwin sleigh age 4 in sheffield but was ronald shaw hed been adopted how can i find out who his parents were

Try approaching female descendants of the family - they may well have been told the 'story', and passed it down. They can be a surprisingly fertile source even though you may not even know of their existence in the first instance!

So if that is his death reg - he was b Nov 1911 and so would not have been born at the time the 1911 census was taken????



If "your" Ronald was b 1907 then I suggest you have the wrong death reg.



Do you have a marriage reg for him???



If so Did he use his middle name ???

hi harryman ronald kenneth born manningham bradford was my grandad my auntie has managed to get the 1911 census showing that he was aged 4 and living with alfred edwin sleigh in sheffield. she has his death cert and marriage cert. he was adopted by alfred

I am just a little confused



If your Auntie has the death certificate (which you agreed was the same one as the reg I found) then his date of birth (which was given on death certs at that date and present) is given as 7 Nov 1911 .



Yet you say he shows on the 1911 census as Ronald Shaw????? Going by the dates of birth this cannot be the same person??????



What age does he give on marriage cert????

I have just checked 1911 census - there is an Alfred edwin sleigh age 37 with wife maude mary but they only have a female servant living with them - no children



then there is a four year old Ronald Shaw (living in Sheffield)

he is living with grandpparents - and also his mother Emily Jessie who is a widow



I cannot find a Ronald Shaw living with Alfred edwin sleigh???????

hiya im getting confused now lol there is even a entry on another site saying he was born 1909, my grandad died in 1974 in cleveland which is rite by what you said. so my grandad was born between 1907 and 1911 i will have to get a copy of the certs myself
