Default Help finding James Kirkwood born 1825 in Woolwich, Kent

Can anyone please help me find James Kirkwood born 1825 in Woolwich, Kent. The son of William Kirkwood ( A Scot Gunner in the royal Artillery) and Isabella Kirkwood (nee Dixon). He has siblings John, Margaret, Jane, Mary and Joseph. The family moved between Wooler, Northumberland and Woolwich. I've searched the bishops transcripts for Wooler and Newcastle All Saints between 1825 and 1841 but cannot find any burial recorded. He seems to dissapear into thin air! I would appreciate any help finding a burial in Kent, or Newcastle, or a marriage as the family lived in Newcastle from the early 1830's. I cannot find him on any census and have tried finding any immigration records to no avail. There is a James Kirkwood born 1814 in Woolwich son of Betty but this is a totally different family. Please help!!

Have you tried contacting the Royal Artillery Archivist in Woolwich? Depending on which regiment he was in William may have been garrisoned in many places. I looked on my list of soldiers serving in the East India Co but could not find a Kirkwood,

They even served in Australia for that see

Closer to home William may have served in Ireland.

Have you tried posting here: http://genforum.genealogy.com/kirkwood/

    For Regiment see:

Finally, there is a Woolwich and District Family History Society:

Google search and you'll find them.

    Good Luck!
