Default Volume and Page Number Confusion

I'm a little confused with a couple of registrations I have and wonder if anyone can help.

When I found my grandfather's marriage details his sister's name came up too with both spouses. They have the same vol and page number. Would a page number indicate one days weddings and they had a double wedding or just that they married in the same quarter?

The other query concerns my g grandfather, I've two birth registrations for 1858, one in Sevenoaks, the other in Malling in Kent. He was born in Dunton Green so I think the Sevenoaks one would be right, but why would there be another in a different district with the same name, vol and page number but a different quarter? Could it just be a coincidence?

    Thanks

Certainly, George Rich born 1858, Dunton Green, Kent. I can't give you the month but guessing the Sevenoaks, June quarter entry would be the right one. Parents John and Elizabeth

His 1878 marriage certificate simply states that he and his wife were full age and on the 1911 census he puts 53, other returns record 3, 14, 23, 33, 44. I couldn't find a birth entry for 1857. There was another George Rich who died 1878 aged 20 in Kent.

Interestingly in 1911 he puts his wife's age as 50 which is at odds with most of the information I have about her including a possible death record for 1923, Dec, Camberwell (aged 61 which I think was wrong). Mary Ann Ogden, 1858, Orpington, Kent, hopefully March quarter district Bromley.

I was disappointed when I got the marriage certificate and found "full age"

There is a third entry for a George Rich but that one is Malling too

    Many thanks

It could be a double wedding or just two that took place in the same quarter.

The GRO pages are allocated when all the certificates are gathered from one registration district, and arranged by name, so people near eachother in the alphabet are on pages close together.

So people near the end of the alphabet are on higher pages than those nearer the beginning.

Thanks very much for clearing that up for me.

I think it would be rather nice if they did have a double wedding.
