Thread: Horsfield Thompson Marriage

Hi. Looking for a marriage for JOHN WILLIAM HORSFIELD to INA (or Thomasina) THOMPSON. Probably in the years 1910 to 1914. Took place in either Leeds or Selby areas of Yorkshire. John William died in 1916 during WW1 age 24. He had a son Charles born in 1914/15.



Any help would be invaluable as I am stuck with the Horsfield's.

Thanks for the replies. The Thompson Horsfield marriage from Dec 1913 look good. I know my Uncle Charles, their son, was born in Hunslet.

You don't by any chance have another marriage for Ina after 1916 do you? She married John William's brother. He was either Ernest or Albert not sure which.



Re - the Selby link. When John William died in WW1 there is a reference to his father Joe William Horsfield living in Balne, Selby and his widow, Ina, living at 21 Pasture Grove, Chapel Allerton Leeds.

I think the birth for John William below is the wrong person. I know he died in 1916 at the Somme, and his grave has his age is down as 24. If it was 1895 that would have made his 21ish.

Thanks for the info. That could be worth checking out. With John W dying in 1916 and my uncle, his son, in 1989. There isn't much to go on. As John died when Charlie was a toddler no-one really knew much about him. Ina, who was my grandma, never spoke about him says my cousin, John W Grandchild.



It gets even stranger. Ina married John W's brother, my Granddad, and they had my Mum Dorothy Joyce in 1931. I have no idea when they married and my mum died in 2005. My Granddad, who died before I was born, either died in 1958 or early 1959. Again sketchy history. I know Mum was brought up in Chapel Allerton Leeds.



Well, I am rabbiting on and have 1001 things to do before 1am.

This 1901 census looks like John W. his father Joe W. and family. John a railway plate layer was born in Selby. Charlotte born Campsall, Yorks, the three children all born Escrick (nr York)
