Default The Ferrie Family - Brickwall!

    Hi

I was wondering if you someone could help me?

I am trying to find some information on a Edward Francis Ferrie, he was my grandfather's father, but he and his sister stopped talking to him, and have now both died, so I know hardly anything about him!

All I know is that he was from Scotland, that he married a Elizabeth McGibbon Whiteside born 1905 from Belfast (so assuming he was born around the same time), that he had two children Sarah Elizabeth Ferrie 1931, and Gerald Ferrie (my grandfather) 1941. I know they lived in Belfast Northern Ireland.

He was a musician, so travelled a lot, and he also performed with the circus for a while.

I really want to find out his birth date. I have tried ancestry, genes reunited, free bmd, family search, but no luck.

Can't search Scotland people because can't afford it, and also wouldn't know if it was right Ferrie, as don't know his birth date.

    Could someone please help me?

    Thanks

    Carrie-Anne

    Carrie,

Using the Free BMD it has indicated that Edward Francis Ferrie married Elizabeth McGibbon Whiteside in the December QTR 1929 Volume 9c Page 1893 in Doncaster.

Your relation in Roseville USA Joe has told me that your Lilly Ferrie lived at 85 Carlingford St East Belfast and died about 1964-65 .She is buried in her fathers grave William Whiteside at Dundonald ,the grave has no headstone so I cannot take a photo of it.When the weather improves I shall find out who else is buried in the grave . Joe has given me the Grave No so perhaps the lad on the reception will assist me further.

Has Joe any information that may help you with the Ferrie family? I know he has been in contact with Liz King and has taken the Whitesides back to the 1600's which is a fantastic achievement for family history in Ireland.

    Regards

Thanks for that, I would really appreciate it if you would do that for me. People are so helpful on here.

Yes he has sent me the details of the Whitesides back to 1600s. I found a photo he didn't have of one of his relatives a month or so ago, and sent it to him. It is a great achievement I agree that he did manage to do this.

Thanks about the marriage, I found that myself yesterday, I wonder why they got married there?

I haven't got anymore information about Edward at all, except that he use to perform at the Old Belfast Hall, according to Uncle Joe.

    I really am stuck!

    Carrie,

Found the info on the Whiteside grave in Dundonald cemetery

William Whiteside buried 27th November 1913

    Iris Ferrie buried 19th June 1939 [ a few months old ]

Elizabeth McGibbon Ferrie buried 15th April 1969

As I said the grave is unmarked so I could not send you a photo.

    Regards

    Hi

Thanks so much for that, I didn't even know about Iris, thank you. I really appreciate it.

At least I know where they are buried, so I could go over and see the records myself at some point.

I am just trying to find Edward Francis Ferrie now from Scotland, my grandfather's father. I know he married Elizabeth in Doncaster in 1929. I am waiting for the certificate to be posted.

If anyone can help me with Edward I will be over the moon!!!!
