John William Fenn born around 1885 - I think in Wisbech Cambridgeshire...he married a Charlotte Clayton in 1916 in Brentford Middx - they had one child - Dora born 1913/4. Any help on John Fenns past ie parents / brother / sisters would be much appreciated

Slizzy's 1901 John William Fenn turns up in the 1911 census as a DAUGHTER, as are three other men, who were working for John Scott a Circus Proprietor. (Small circus as there are 15 people on the return)

Thank you both so much.....I think the one we want is the 1885 birth of JW Fenn....he was defo married to Charlotte Clayton so doesn't look like he's the one in the circus..as you say he wasn't married to Charlotte? I am off out now but will come back tonight and have a closer look.

He was in the circus in 1911, Dora was born 1914, and he married Charlotte in 1916.

Oh how interesting...yes please send me anything you have on the circus subject. I looked at the 1911 census but couldn't find him...but as you found he was entered as "daughter"..........must be our John as it fits with Dora and Charlotte
