Default Philip James Hall - Brickwall at the moment

    Hello Everyone,

I will try to keep this short if I can. I have in fact 3 brick walls at the moment, one I need to do more research to see if I can come up with something. The other two I will post, but obviously one here and the other on a new thread.

I have Philip James Hall, born: 1883 Islington. Philip was in the Army, Middlesex Regiment, from 1901 - 1914 approx. I have his War Pension Record. On the Pension record it shows Philip came back from Penang in 1913 and went out again in 1914. The Address he was going to was shown as c/o Eastern Smelting Company, Penang. Philip was a Metal Assayer.

I have not been able to find Philip returning to England. Hence my brick wall. I would like to know if Philip did in fact work at the Eastern Smelting Company, and spend the rest of his life in Penang. Can anyone please tell me where I might go from here to find a death record for him, if in fact he died in Penang. I haven't as yet found a death date for him in England.

Any opinions would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    AudreyJP

I believe the Eastern Smelting Co was bought by the Straights Steamship Navigation Company in by 1922 when they acquired Smelting Co they were called Blue Funnel - a merchant navy interest. Perhaps you could try Merchant Navy history archivist.

    For Steamship Co History see
