Thread: Kingston Lisle Berkshire Parish Records

Hi,



Has anyone access to transcriptions of these PRs? I am looking for some record of the deaths of Robert and Esther Godding (sometimes called Godwin). Thet married in Ashbury, Wilts in 1781 then moved to Kingston Lisle where they had four known children (2 boys and 2 girls - all baptised in KL between 1782 and 1790). I can track the lives and trace the descendants of the 2 boys, James and John, but completely lose track of the 2 girls, Catherine bp. 1782 and Mary bp. 1784, and also of the parents Robert and Esther. Did they die in KL? Where was Robert Godding born? Where did Esther (nee Johnson) come from? What became of Catherine and Mary Godding/Godwin. I wish I knew. Any help with this line of enquiry would be most welcome.

Is there an Ashbury in Wiltshire? There is an Ashbury Berks. Don't mean Ashley Wilts do you?



Don't know if this helps but there are two possible Robert Godwin baptisms on IGI:



Robert Godwin bap 27 Aug 1762 Stanton St Bernard Wilts,

Father Thomas, Mother: Elizabeth.



Robert Godwin bap 9 Feb 1754 Broadwell Oxon

Father James Mother Mary



Lots of Godwin in Broadwell Oxon see IGI C026021



The only James Godwin married to a Mary I can find is perhaps a bit early?



1736 James Godwin of Westcut Bks m Mary Woodley Holwell Oxon



There is an Ester Johnstone b Ireland 1761 on IGI dau of Hugh & Margaret. Of course Johnstone is very common in name.
