    Default Paxton look up Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire

My great great grandfather gave his parents name and birthdate along with shire in his Civil war record. It is Benjamin Paxton August 6, 1823. He is supposed to be the son of William Paxton and Mary Brown. In the CW record he lists his shire as Oxfordshire, in his obituary it is Buckinghamshire. I really need confirmation of the shire to research any further.

Also since they aren't online, does a census exist for 1831?

    Hello,

Someone else has given you guidance for 1841. That was the first national census to be held. There are other censuses carried out locally before that but they are very few and far between. Most are simply head counts and not of individual's details.

Brackley itself is in Northamptonshire, but some of the places in bordering North Oxfordshire were in the Brackley Union.
