I am trying to trace two "Lost" children.
Their father was John Edward Carr who was born in Belford, Durham, Northumberland in 1899. John served his country in the first world war and was a bombardier in the Royal Field Artillery (Regimental Number L/18964 1914-1919) He survived the war and continued to farm at Kirknewton, Nothumberland and Wester Wooden in the Scottish Borders. He died in 17th July 1970 in Innerleithen, Scotland.
He married Agnes May Hunter in 1924 in Berwick. She died 17th July 1970 in Kelso, Scotland.
Now, either just before their marriage or just after Agnes gave birth to two children. Whether they were twins or were born at separate times, I don't know. All I have is that they were born before 1926, one was a girl whom we believe to be Joan? the other a boy for which we have no name.
Now the real mystery is that apparently the two children were buried in an unmarked grave next, or near to the grave of John,s father and mother John Carr (1929) and Helen Carr* (1947) in Ellingham Cemetery, Northumberland.
*Maiden surname was Carr, John Married his cousin)
The had four children (over and above the lost two)
Jack Carr 19??
Winifred May Carr 1926 Belford, Northumberland.
Derek Carr 1937
Andrew Carr 1938
What I would like to know is,
What were the children's names?
When were they born?
When did they die?
Are they buried at Ellingham?
Not asking much am I. These children have been a real mystery to us, many members of the family have tried to trace them before us without success. It would be nice to be able to put names to to the poor wee souls, wherever they are?
