Thread: Is it a good idea to post family tree on LDS website?

I have a question about posting a family tree on the Latter Day Saints website.

Do you think it's a good thing to do? If you do, are the statistics of living people on view?



Has anyone had any experience putting their info. on this site from Family Tree Maker?

i put my tree on there when i first started doing my family history and then realised i couldnt edit it and some details were wrong.



i also found it hard to link the people with my details, so if anyone was related they would not easily be able to contact me or to search my files.



some people do it successfully. maybe just not me.



i have contacted someone on there who shared a link, but they only had a postal address in the us and they never replied to me.



not sure if thats any help. my personal opinion is that maybe a different website would be a better option, but that is just a personal opinion.

I have had great success finding out about my William Stagg and the family line. Even have found a new cousin in the U.S., our ancestors were cousins! She has a lot of information that she has mailed to me. So it's been very exciting. Will be away for a few days then back to this wonderful hobby.
