Thread: Walsh Family in Yarmouth 1841

Hi people



I have this family from 1851 forward in Great Yarmouth. In a later census Fanny is said to have come from Guildford.

I am unable to find a trace of this family in the 41 census.

I as yet cant find them on 1841 , but could be mistranscribed will try again ,



Tried different ways even welch , possible went to Yarmouth after census

Are Frances and Fanny the same person ? Is this John Walsh's second marriage ? Ellen age 23 in the 1851 census, born c1827.

Can we assume 1st Ellen was born in Frome, Somerset c1810 ?

Its a muddle not helped by the IGI entries that have no sources as in the one you quote. Sometimes you feel they have made it up to suit their own families!!



My belief is that the Frome wedding is genuine, with our John Walsh and I'm pretty sure it should be to Frances [Fanny], b 1810ish married 1833, and she died in 1848 in Great Yarmouth.



Ellen [Eleanor McKever] has been put in this IGI record in error.



I agree the arrival in Yarmouth should be later that 1844 or 45.



I am increasingly thinking they never married.



They named a number of their children in the late 50s, the 60s and 70s Miles Walsh all born Yarmouth.



Its an enigma
