1814
Sandhill Heath, Fordingbridge, Hants
Charles Oates 35 Ag Labourer
Mary 35
Harriett 8
William 6
All down as born in county
1851
Thorps Farm, Fordingbridge, Hants
Charles Oates 48 Ag lab born Rockbourne, Hants
Mary 46 born Darnerham, Wilts
Harriett 18 Seamstress born Rockbourne
William 17 Ag lab born Rockbourne
I cannot find them in 1861 but in 1871 Charles is a widower living with his brother
Popplepit Cottage, Fordingbridge
John Oats 65 Supported by Parish born Rockbourne
Sarah 59 born Godshill, Hants
Charles 69 Brother Ag Lab born Rockbourne.
Note the misspelling of Oates

if you look at the burials on that link charles burial is there - fitting in with the reference i found in 1880. as is williams baptisms

thank you for all your information it was very enlightening and useful.
I note you are trying to trace family WOOKEY from Somerset!
About ten years ago I worked in a builders merchants in Bristol and one of my customers was a F J WOOKEY&SON he was a builder and farmer,if I remember rightly he lived at CHEW MAGNA in SOMERSET near CHEDDAR,If you think it may be of some use I will try to find out more for you.

thank you for your offer. the wookeys are very common around somerset and the ones i am tracing come from hinton blewitt. they later moved to worcestershire/warwickshire area and my OH is descended from them.
