Thread: Stuck at great grandparents!

Have not managed to get very far as I can't find out the details of my great grandparents parents. Any help would be greatly appriciated.



My Great Granmother was called Elsie Ada Mardling born in St Albans in June 1905, she married my Great Grandfather in Dec 1927. He was called Thomas George Waltham and he was born in Islington in Dec 1904.



Cant seem to find them on census records or birth records!!

Here is Elsie's birth details June quarter 1905 St Albans 3a 793 and Thomas December quarter 1904 Islington 1904 1b 251. If you order certs it will give you parents names to help you go back, go on 'FIND MY PAST' and follow the links to order certs £7.00 each.

They are both on the 1911 census. Unfortunately the 1911 is a pay to view site and to look at each transcript costs 10 credits, or 30 credits for the original page, if you buy a block of credits, minimum 60 credits (£6.95) you will be able to view their families.

Once you have their parents names come back to us, we should then be able to find their parents and their ancestors on the census 1841-1901 via a subscription site.



If you would prefer to buy their birth certs use the ref's Kimmy gave you.



If you decide to go down the 1911 census route and require search tips, don't hesitate to ask.



Something to bear in mind, if a parent had died before 1911 you won't get their name from the census, if you think this a possibility it would be better to buy the birth certs.
