Thread: Need help finding William John Mathers

I need help finding my uncle William John Mathers, he was born in Ireby Cumbria in March 1898 and was the son of Razlah Barton and Margaret Mathers. I was always told that he was killed in a pit accident in the 1920s in Cumbria but I can't find any trace of him. He was known as Jody. Any help would be gratefully received.

If Killed in pit accident , it may be in local paper of area , plus their would have been inquest .

One of the problems with finding these people is that unless more than 5 people died in the incident they do not seem to be classed as a disastor and do not get recorded with other's on-line. I have quite a lot in my tree that died as the result of mining accidents. I have found very few on-line. With most, I have to make do with the death certificates as the deaths were not straight away.
