    Default Desperately seeking Grandad!

An ancestor,George Edward Johnson, was born in Longton,Stoke-on-Trent,Staffs;in 1882.After serving in the Forces during WW1,he is believed to have been demobbed in the UK.

For some unknown reason,(amnesia?),he never returned to his home and family.

There are said to have been several sightings in his home town,he is believed to have passed away during the 1930's,but the family have been unable to trace his death certificate.

    Obviously,he's no longer with us,can anyone help,please?

    Thanks very much,

    Derrick.

I doubt if he had amnesia, more likely he'd decided to have a new life with someone else.

Until the death indexes are transcribed you will have to trawl through every quarter of every year in which he is likely to have died and match up his age and possibly go on the likelihood of his dying in his home town area.

    Hi

You say he is belived to have been discharge in the UK. Have you looked on Ancestry.co.uk under Military search,

British Army WWI Service Records, 1914-1920

    about George Edward Johnson

    Name:George Edward JohnsonAge:33 Birth Parish:Longton Birth County:Stafford Regiment Name:York & Lancaster Regt Regiment Number:8425 Number of Images:5

His residence at the time of enlisting looks like 16 Cheston Place, Longton. the record states he is on reserve for 4 years.

Could this be the person you are looking for and if so you could look for a place of discharge, using his Reg number and Regiment
