Thread: Lost birth records for Cockermouth

Hi, I hope someone can give me some advice I have been searching for the birth record of my paternal grandmother. Her name was Jean Alice Hudson, she appears on the 1911 census with her 1st husband Joseph Mesner Smith, her age is given as 29 and her birth place Cockermouth Cumberland. I have searched every combination I can think of for her birth record to no avail. I wonder if some records may have been destroyed.

Would it be worth getting her marriage cert, and then to trace her roots via her father. She married in 1906 in Camberwell Qtr 3, Vol 1d page 1716. I quickly looked in 1901 and 1891 census but there was no trace that she actually exisited!
