    Default Help in finding Robert John Wright 1841 census please

    I have found an ancestor buried in Yorkshire and in the same grave is a Robert John Wright. He was buried 23/04/1850 aged 34, whch means he was born 1816.My Great Great Aunt was called Mary Daniel who died in 1897 aged 72, so I am puzzled as to who this Robert is. I wondered if it would be possible to find any information from the 1841 census. Unfortunately all I know is that he was buried in Yorkshire, so would presume that he was there in 1841.Must be a member of the family somehow as Mary was a woman of means so would not be buried with a stranger.Could be another link in my family tree!!!

    Many Thanks

    The fact that Mary was a woman of means doesn't mean that her relatives decided to use her means to buy a private grave. In churchyards space was often at a premium and people were buried wherever there was room.

    You don't say where in Yorkshire he was buried. But there are no Robert Wrights in 1841 census born within 10 years of 1816 living in Yorkshire, showing up on Ancestry.

    Checked your aunt's death and saw it was registered in Leeds.

    Went back to 1841 and put in search for Robert, no surname, Leeds as keyword and found

    HO107; Piece 1347; Book: 11; Civil Parish: Leeds Town; County: Yorkshire; Enumeration District: 46; Folio: 10; Page: 12; Line: 11;

    Robert Wright, 25, gardener

    Elizabeth Wright, 25,

    Jane Wright, 20

    all born in county and living at Cherry Row, Leeds

    Interesting!!!!

    I have just been looking on the Leodis site to see if Cherry Row was anywhere near Coburg Street where my GG aunt lived, but there is no information on there.

    I suppose I was hoping that Robert would be the son of one of the Daniel ladies, especially as my GGAunts father was called John and her brother was called Robert..still they were both common names in those days.

    I cannot see that there is a connection, but still strange that there are just 2 of them in the grave.Is there anyway of finding the parents of Robert John?

    Thank you again for looking
