Thread: need some guidance please

I am trying to find a grandfather from the 1700's but need some help, I am on the Family Search pilot site looking on (English, Diocese of Durham Bishops Transcrips ca 1700-1900) my grandfather was born Iveston, Durham please cld someone tell me in what parish Iveston is so i can begin my search for him and his parents. Thank you so much

I looked on googlemaps http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl and the nearest place seems to be Leadgate,



Had a rummage on Genuki and this seems to be under Medomsley http://www.joinermarriageindex.com/p...ley/index.html



but you might need to check other parishes like Consett and Lanchester too.

Thank you Jeuel i will try that, is there any other free parish records online that i might find him on.

The only ones I know of are www.familysearch.org and www.freereg.org.uk (but check which parishes it covers).



There are some payperview parish register transcripts done by various family history societies on www.findmypast.com - again check what you want is covered first.
