Thread: hughes family

i am seeking information on george hughes born 1851 in kent england. he came to the U.S. sometime before 1876.

Do you know anything else about him, ie parents, or siblings names, or where in Kent he was born? There were a few George Hughes' born circa 1851 in Kent.

no i don't know his parents or siblings names all i know is that he was in michigan USA by 1876 and that he married Florence Anthony.

I suggest that you get his marriage cert if possible. That should give his father's name and occupation which would make it easier to find him on the census.

The only George Hughes in Michigan in 1880 US census, born 1851 England has E. has his middle initial. Is this the right man? His wife is called Flora and they have a daughter called Carrie.

Assuming this is the right chap, these seems to be the only possible birth in Kent (where did you get Kent from?)

if i remember right kent england was listed as his birthplace on a marriage record for him and flora, his parents names were not listed.
